Didim - Akköy - Apollon: Site Visit

First Impressions:

Akköy stands right in the middle of two powerful stories. On one side, the Temple of Apollo in Didim, on the other, the ancient city of Miletus… And the ancient route connecting these two ancient focal points: the Sacred Way; like a trace where time, faith, and movement have accumulated. The annual walks along this route remind us of exactly this; it's more like walking between two meanings than simply going from one place to another.

Akköy is like the silent threshold between these two extremes. Neither entirely the beginning nor the end; but an intermediate state containing both. Even though it seems to be stuck in the middle of the roads today, it still stands right on that ancient connection.
