BARK Architects
BARK is an Istanbul-based architecture and design studio founded in 2024 by Osman Can Bagatır and Ece Kandemir. It approaches architecture not merely as a physical production, but as an act of constructing space and atmosphere.
In its work ranging from urban scale to interior spaces, the story of the place, topography, the expressive power of materials, and the relationship users establish with space are the main determinants of design.
In projects developed across different scales and typologies, the studio aims to establish a consistent language among these elements and to create context-specific, experience-oriented spaces in each project.
Its work has been supported by awards won in national and international architecture and urban design competitions it has participated in since 2017.
We aim to make our work legible as a layered system that simultaneously tests the relationships between structure, envelope, and use.
“Bark” defines this framework through references to shelter (roof) and bark (envelope).
Üretimlerimizi, strüktür, kabuk ve kullanım arasındaki ilişkiyi birlikte sınayan katmanlı bir sistem olarak görünür kılmaya çalışıyoruz.
“Bark”, barınak (çatı) ve kabuk (zarf) referanslarıyla bu çerçeveyi tanımlamaktadır.

Osman Can Bagatır
Architect & Founding Partner
He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at Dokuz Eylül University in 2018. After graduation, he worked at various offices. In 2020, he moved his practice to Istanbul and began his independent architectural work, winning first prize in the Social Centers: Esenler competition.
He has been invited to discussions and studio environments focused on Urbanism, Architecture, and Building themes, and since his student years, he has participated in various national and international competitions, receiving several awards. As of 2024, he continues his architectural design and consultancy work under BARK Architects, which he founded.
Ece Kandemir
MSc. Architect & Founding Partner
She graduated from the Department of Architecture at Dokuz Eylül University in 2020 and completed her master’s degree at Istanbul Technical University in 2023.
Since her student years, she has received various awards in national architectural competitions and has taken part in exhibition and publication projects developed around the discipline of architecture.
She began her professional career at Yalın Mimarlık in 2022 and, since 2024, has been continuing her work under BARK Architects, where she is a co-founder.
Hüsna Nur Pehlivan
Architect
She graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at Kocaeli University in 2022. Following her graduation, she took part in various national and international competitions with different teams. As of 2025, she has been working at BARK.
