Urla Hersekzade Bathhouse: Site Visit - Main View

First Impressions;

Urla has been undergoing rapid change in recent years. Increased migration, the bustling port, the transforming use of the central square, and the newly developing hills like Kekliktepe are constantly reshaping how the district is perceived. At first glance, this seemingly fragmented and scattered picture appears to be the result of different layers layered on top of each other.

But after spending some time in the center, that initial impression gradually dissolves. A Turkish coffee in Malgaça Market, or following a street whose destination is unclear, can suddenly reveal oneself within a powerful rural-architectural landscape... The size of the buildings, the slope of the streets, the language of the walls… all evoke an older, calmer rhythm.

During our field visit, we precisely pursued these traces. We proceeded by pointing out the points that made us ask, "What is the true nature of this place?", that caused us to change direction, and sometimes simply made us stop and observe. In fact, what we did was less about drawing a route and more about slowly trying to decipher this layered structure. Because some places only reveal themselves when you explore them.
